on the terms of the deal

Like it or not, we have all made a bargain with ourselves. Most have chosen
to give up the promise of our youth for the regular, steady income of our
jobs. Nothing wrong with it, we all need a roof overhead and food in the
belly. But here is the problem…

What happens at the end of your life when you look back and ask the
question, what have I done with this gift of life? In the end is a pile of
spreadsheets and some well-fed family members enough?

We now live in an era where the realities of business mean that you as a
worker are nothing more than a commodity. Any modern company will gladly
send your job offshore provided that it improves their bottom line. This
means that the long standing balance between employee and employer is now
based on a false assumption, that both the employee and the employer are
trading stability and continuity for a paycheck.

But you are not just a commodity! You are a human being, full of
creativity, full of ideas, full of it ;) I’m asking anyone who reads this
post to think about this, and to take some time out to create. Write a
poem, draw a picture, sing a song - It’s your right as a human being!
